Just like the major airlines, Cloud 9 Balloon Flights is a registered Aviation Business. Our Air Operators Certificate (AOC) S577717-02 is issued and regulated by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

Likewise, our pilots are licensed and monitored by CASA with regular training, reviews of their flying skills and medical checkups.

Weather and wind are the two elements that we have no control over. However part of the old-fashioned charm of ballooning is that it remains utterly dependent on nature.

For us to fly and for you to enjoy the experience we need light winds and good visibility. Some mornings may look good but even then fast upper winds make a balloon flight unsafe.   

Long before you awake our pilot is checking the weather forecasts and the wind readings from several weather stations around the flight area to make a decision if the weather is suitable for ballooning.  For you, this means you may not get up in the air on exactly the day you had hoped to fly with us but be patient - the wait for the right morning is always worthwhile.

Cloud 9 is the Australian Owned and Operated company flying in both Sydney & Hunter Valley regions and our services are available all year round. 

Whilst other companies shut down for as long as 3 months in the winter months, Cloud 9 remains operational through a period which provides some of the most ideal conditions for ballooning - Clear blue skies, great views, ideal winds.
